Planning for Your Business While on Vacation

Hi everyone! It’s Kim here, writing to you from somewhere between the beautiful places of the Philippines and the vibrant streets of South Korea. 🌴✈️

Taking a full month off in October seemed like a dream—exploring two different countries, spending quality time with my family, and soaking up new experiences. But as a business owner, I knew I couldn’t completely unplug. The thought of leaving everything on autopilot for that long made me a little anxious. So, I had to figure out how to keep my business running smoothly while still enjoying my much-needed break.

Here’s how I planned my business while on vacation—and yes, it’s possible to balance both!

1. Strategic Pre-Vacation Planning

Before I packed my bags, I spent some serious time planning out all of October’s content and business operations. I mapped out every task, post, and client deliverable that needed attention during the month. This involved blocking out time to brainstorm, schedule, and delegate. My goal was to leave as little room for surprises as possible.

It sounds overwhelming, but trust me—setting everything up beforehand was the best decision I made.

2. Delegating to My OBM and VA

Let me just say, my Online Business Manager (OBM) and Virtual Assistant (VA) are absolute lifesavers. They were key in making this month-long trip possible. While I’m out here exploring, they’re back home ensuring everything keeps moving. From managing client communications to handling daily tasks, they’ve got it covered.

Having the right support in place makes all the difference. I can relax knowing that my OBM is overseeing the big picture while my VA takes care of the day-to-day.

3. Scheduling Ahead

Social media and client content are still going out as planned, thanks to scheduling tools and my trusty team. We planned out all posts, emails, and updates well before I even left for the airport. This not only keeps my audience engaged but also ensures the business doesn’t lose momentum while I’m away.

It’s honestly such a relief to know that even if I’m offline for a day or two, everything is still running smoothly.

4. Staying Connected, But Setting Boundaries

I’ll be honest—I didn’t want to completely disconnect from my business while away, so I set aside specific times to check in. But here’s the key: I set boundaries. I’m not glued to my phone or laptop. Instead, I have a set schedule (usually mornings before heading out) where I review updates from my OBM, respond to urgent messages, and make any needed adjustments.

This way, I stay in the loop without letting it interfere with my vacation.

5. Trusting the Process

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to trust my team and the systems we’ve put in place. It’s easy to get caught up in the “what ifs” when you’re away, but if you’ve done the groundwork, things will flow as they should.

So here I am, halfway through October, sipping on coconut water in the Philippines and soon off to explore South Korea’s bustling cities. And you know what? The business hasn’t skipped a beat.

Takeaways for You

If you’re a business owner wondering if taking a real vacation is possible, I’m living proof that it absolutely is. With the right planning, delegation, and systems, you can step away without the anxiety of everything falling apart.

So go ahead—plan that trip, explore, and recharge. Your business will still be there when you get back, and maybe, like me, you’ll realise it can thrive even more when you’re not hovering over every detail.

Here’s to balancing business and adventure! 🌍✨
